Hello, I’m Louise Casey and I run the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care.

I think most of us want exactly the same things.

To be able to live well and to get old well.

The truth is, most of us don’t think much about adult social care until the day that we need it, either for ourselves, or for our families and loved ones.

For an older person, that might be when they start to become frail, when they start to need help around the home, or indeed, have just had their first fall.

For a younger adult, it could be because of a sudden accident or a serious illness.

Maybe you’ve got a child with additional needs, who requires lifelong care.

The reality is, any of us could need care, at any age.

And if we do, we want to know that it will be there, that it will be good quality and it will support us to live our lives as fully as possible.

The Prime Minister has asked me to look at the adult social care system and to recommend what needs to change.

We need to hear from people across the country.

People who use care, families, carers, people who work in care, providers and anyone who has views about what adult social care should look like in the future.

Your experiences matter.

Whether they’ve been positive or difficult.

Whether you’re receiving care now or have done in the past.

Or perhaps you’re caring for a loved one and know firsthand what’s working and what isn’t.

Our call for evidence is now open and we’d really like to hear from you.

You can tell us what’s working well.

What needs to improve.

And what your priorities are for the future.

The commission will consider all the evidence carefully before making recommendations to government.

Together, we can build a system that’s fairer, more sustainable and gives people the care and support they deserve.
