Who we are
The Prime Minister has agreed that Baroness Louise Casey will chair an Independent Commission into Adult Social Care (the Casey Commission). This privacy notice explains how the Commission will handle personal data when you contact us via email or submit information to our website.
What personal data we collect
When you email us at enquiries@caseycommission.co.uk, we may collect:
- your email address
- your name (if provided)
- any other personal information you include in your email
When you submit a response on our online portal:
As an individual:
- you have the option of sharing information about yourself including your name and contact details.
- you can provide personal experiences of using and/or working in adult social care.
- Individuals will be asked to ensure that the responses they submit to the portal questions do not contain any sensitive personal data (such as NHS number).
- You will also be asked whether you consent for information shared to be included as part of our work.
- The website form will also confirm that information or material submitted will not be referenced by name in our reports without expressed consent.
As an organisation, we may collect:
- the point of contact’s name
- the point of contact’s email address
- the point of contact’s phone number (optional)
How we use your data
We use information submitted to:
- respond to your enquiries or requests
provide support or further information about the Commission
Inform our work, forming the basis for data analysis and policy development.
anonymised data may be published as part of our reports and used to inform future policy development. We will not reference any submissions by name unless we have expressed consent from the individual. - provide support or further information about the Commission
How we store and protect your data
On a practical level:
- We keep your email and any associated information secure and accessible only to authorised team members.
- We do not share, sell or disclose your information to third parties unless required by law.
- All personal data held is stored within the United Kingdom and will not be transferred outside of the United Kingdom.
- All personal data we receive is handled fairly and lawfully in accordance with data protection legislation.
Regarding the lawful basis for data collection:
- Under Article 6 of the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing personal data: The processing is necessary to perform a task or function in the public interest or for our official functions and the task or function has a clear basis in law.
- It is necessary for the Independent Commission to consult views from members of the public and those that work in the adult social care sector about the future of it. The data involved covers Article 9 (Special Categories of Data) and under Part 1 Schedule 1 DPA 2018 number 4(c)
- In addition, we are also processing special category data under the following condition(s) as per Article 9 of the UK GDPR:
- (g) Reasons of substantial public interest (with a basis in law)
- (h) Health or social care (with a basis in law)
How long we keep your data
- We will keep information until the conclusion of the Commission unless required for ongoing communication or legal obligations.
- At the end of the Commission, some of the personal information held by the Commission may be transferred to the National Archives in accordance with the Public Records Act 1958.
- All other information will be deleted at the conclusion of the Commission.
Your rights
All individuals have a number of rights under the UK GDPR. This includes the right to:
- request access to the personal data we hold about you, which is also known as a subject access request
- ask us to delete or correct your data
- withdraw consent for us to use your data
